What is deca nandrolone?
Deca nandrolone is a parenteral anabolic steroid comprised of the steroidal hormone Nandrolone and is attached to the large Decanoate ester. It is structurally similar to testosterone, but there is a carbon atom in the 19th position. It is primarily indicated to treat anemia, renal insufficiency, osteoporosis and AIDS-associated wasting syndrome. Through the years, it has been commended by athletes and bodybuilders for its performance-enhancing effect, energy boosting, and other therapeutic benefits. However, due to years of anabolic steroid controversy, use of this became limited.
How it works
This exogenous androgen promotes reversal of catabolic processes and negative nitrogen balance which results in protein anabolism, appetite stimulation, and muscle mass enhancement.
As a Nandrolone base, Deca nandrolone is attached to the large Decanoate ester, which slows down the hormone’s releasing activity. This allows consumption of Nandrolone hormone without the need for frequent injections. As the Decanoate ester begins to detach once injected, there will be an increase Nandrolone released within the body during the first 24-48 hours. From this point, the hormone will continue to release into the body for approximately 2-3 weeks.
Administration
It must be administered through intramuscular injection since it is rapidly hydrolyzed to free nandrolone by plasma esterases in the systemic circulation. It has high lipid solubility and can rapidly diffuse into cells. It is subsequently metabolized in the liver via reduction and oxidation which is similar to the metabolism of testosterone.
Deca nandrolone as an anabolic steroid
Like many anabolic steroids, deca nandrolone has the ability to enhance protein synthesis, inhibit glucocorticoid hormones, and increase nitrogen retention, hemoglobin count, and red blood cell mass. Even in low doses, it is believed to have a stronger effect as compared to any other steroid supplements
It provides significant gains in lean mass, but the increase in muscle mass will come slowly. As a large ester based steroid, and it will not be fast acting. However, the mass built with this steroid will often be higher quality mass than compared to any other anabolic steroids.
Though it increases Basal Metabolic Rate, Deca nandrolone is not included in the list of those strength increasing steroids. Rather, it works by enhancing muscle mass and decreasing body fat accumulation. It directly incinerates fat and aids in its maintenance within normal range.
The controversy
It has also been the subject of drug misuse and abuse, often producing adverse effects such as changes in libido, hepatotoxicity, increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and antisocial behavior. Some of the masculinizing effects in women can be irreversible. Deca nandrolone was approved by the FDA in 1983 and became a controlled substance in 1991.
Untoward Effects
Common side effects include diarrhea, insomnia, headache, hair loss, edema, mood swings, dark urine, hirsutism, menstrual irregularities; acne, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. As these are considered as side effects of the drug, they largely fall into the realm of possibility rather than guarantee. Safe and responsible use is still important not only in taking deca nandrolone but in all other medications.
